An end to technocracy

Assessment:

The European Union has lost its legitimacy because it is not capable of showing its usefulness. Too many directives have turned the European institutions into a bureaucracy which is removed from reality.

We believe that nations are diverse, and therefore need to control their own currency and budget.

Moreover, the European Union is used as a straw man by national governments which, in the name of Europe, apply those reforms that they do not want to take responsibility for in front of their own voters. Policies enacted should be answerable to the citizens, not to un-elected officials.

ADDE proposal:

We want to recast Europe on a simplified basis of free and voluntary cooperation among counties that wish to join up.

Beyond belonging to the European Union, the ADDE promotes a Europe based on cooperation between European nations on European agencies from which concrete projects are developed.
