Turkey is a country governed by an autocratic party which promotes values which are not European. Nevertheless, the accession process has been launched for the country to join the European Union.
Threatened with Turkey sending millions of refugees to Europe, Angela Merkel has handed to Europe’s immigration keys over to Turkey as well as the offer for Turkish citizens to get visa-free access to Europe.
We wish to state clearly that Europe has no right to welcome a country which is not part of its continent and which does not share its values.
Turkey is a country in Asia Minor which practises policies which are authoritarian, anti-democratic and openly discriminatory against women, homosexuals, Kurds and religious minorities.
We call for an end to advocacy for the accession of Turkey to the European Union, the maintaining of visas for Turkish citizens coming into the EU and the abrogation of the agreement on migrants signed in March 2016.
